I watched this TEDx video today and had to share it. Theresa is a truly phenomenal woman and an inspiring speaker. Her talk here is on the theme of ‘starting something new’ and she talks about how she was inspired to help puppy mill dogs.
Theresa Strader is the founder of National Mill Dog Rescue (NMDR). She has dedicated her life to rescuing dogs held captive in the commercial breeding industry. In this video she talks about the day she walked into her first dog auction (which she never knew existed, even after working in rescue her whole life) and knew in a moment that she would spend the rest of her life working to save dogs like the ones she saw in the cages there. That day she rescued #251, Lily, and since that time her organization has rescued and re-homed over 9,000 puppy mill dogs.
NMDR has also produced a movie titled I Breathe which I highly recommend. The full length version is available through Amazon.com in either DVD or streaming format.
