I wrote in my post this week ‘When Kira Smiles: Limitations, Celebrations‘ about how Kira has learned to love petting.  Here is a recent video of her asking to be petted.

The last few days, I have come home to find all the stuffed ‘ducks’ in the house are gathered together beside her on the couch.  Apparently she spends her day gathering ducks!   The ducks are usually all scattered around when I leave in the morning, so it would take some exploring for her to find them all.   She doesn’t choose any of the other many stuffed toys or the bones, just the ducks! 🙂

On the other hand (the limitations side), she was afraid of me all day Tuesday because I was wearing new socks.  She sniffed the socks and then decided she should keep a safe distance because I smelled unusual.   So many little things she notices that I would never think of…

I have been so fortunate to share my life with so many amazing dogs. I hope that by sharing the story of one of those dogs - Kira - I can raise awareness about the issue of puppy mills. https://kirapuppymilljourney.wordpress.com/

  1. That is awesome and proves what a great job you are doing! Congratulations and congratulations to Kira as well, for being able to overcome her fears.

We don’t know Delilah’s story, but we do know it took her a long time to seek affection. Like you, I am thrilled when she seeks me out for a petting. Last night we snuggled and she was so loving and wanting to be loved, it melted my heart. Delilah has come a very long way. And so has Kira. Keep up the good work and thank you for adding this amazing post to the blog hop.

  4. Love the photo with the ducks!

Ginger dog has one corner of the living room where she likes to gather all of her toys. 🙂
